August 1, 2008 was my dad and mum’s 55th wedding anniversary. My wife tactfully reminded me by leaving a card for me to see when I woke up in the wee hours of the morning (my usual routine).
I wrote out the following and tucked the card inside my parent’s room: Dearest Dad, Mum, Bapa (grandfather) and Dadimaa (grandmother).
“We have blessed with having you as our parents and grandparents. We do not know how long you will be with us. However, we are eternally grateful for every single day we have had your presence in our lives. Your humility and trusting nature has been exemplary. Today all your children and grandchildren are very successful. This has been possible due to your love, guidance and 'giving' nature. Thank you! Happy Anniversary and God bless you always! Amen”
If your parents are alive take the opportunity to express your love and gratitude. This opportunity is not forever. If they have passed on you can still express your love and gratitude and they will receive it “spiritually”! If your parents were not good to you, give them a gift of forgiveness and experience the power of giving.
