Living in the Moment

Beautiful Meeting Point

There is a beautiful meeting point between having clarity of vision and living in the moment.

Having clarity of vision gives you the sense of direction and a knowing what you want.  It does not, in itself, get you there even though it helps you make some good decisions.

Living in the moment is where execution happens.  Here is where you are able to translate your vision into action.  This is the moment of integrity!  Also by being totally present you are able to implement efficiently and effectively because all your energy is focused on the task at hand.

Have a Good Day!

Is today the most important day for you?

If not, why not?  What other day can be most important for you?

Your birthday?  Well that is either gone or yet to come.

Your graduation day?  Well that is either gone or yet to come.

Your wedding day?  Well that is either gone or yet to come.

The day your first child is or was born?  Well that is either gone or yet to come.

Today is the only day you have.  Make the most of it and if you live each day that way, your life expands!

What can you give in this moment?

You can give a good thought to someone you care about.

You can send forgiveness either directly (communicate with them) or indirectly (by thoughts of forgiveness).

You can express gratitude for what you have.

You can express love and affection to someone close - spouse, child, parent, sibling.

You can help someone going through financial difficulty, a health problem or a similar challenge, or you can send a prayer or good wish to them.

You can interpret a hurtful situation in the best possible light.

It is in the being that teach and give!

One young kid was asked some time back who is your hero, and he replied Michael Jordan, and when the same kid was asked again the same question recently he replied Barack Obama.

We cannot all be sports superstars or US Presidents.  However, we can all be a loving human being - whether you are a father, mother, daughter, son, husband, wife, partner, brother or sister.  And being loving is being a great hero!

It is in the being that we teach and give.  Begin today striving to be loving starting with people who are close to you and become an unsung hero!

Effective Giving Comes from Living Your Message

Recently, I had a live 15 minute TV interview with Fanny Kiefer in Vancouver.

The questions she asked me were totally different from what I expected.

I expected her to ask questions from our book The Power of Giving, but instead she asked questions about me.

She caught me off guard.  I had to periodically connect my answers about me to the book.

She was engaging and constantly kept me on my toes!  I was relaxed, and spoke from the heart and actually enjoyed the interview.

Living In The Moment

One of the editors I was working with once asked me what I meant by "living in the moment".  Great question!  His point was that everyone says that.  It had become a cliche.

My response:

"Living in the moment" has been praised by one and many, but mastered by very few, if any.

Living in the moment means forgiving all that have hurt you in any way and forgiving yourself, too, for shortcomings (trusting that others will forgive you, too).
